At Harry S. Cohen & Associates, P.C, our attorneys focus exclusively on medical malpractice. We are committed to providing high quality, responsive legal service to patients and families who have been injured or wronged by medical malpractice. We pride ourselves in bringing justice to those who need it most.
For nearly two decades, we have been standing up for the rights of patients and getting impressive results. Due to our attorneys’ vast experience in the area of medical malpractice, we understand the legal strategies that physicians, hospitals, and their insurance companies use to deprive deserving individuals of the compensation rightfully due to them. Our attorneys use this knowledge to better help our clients obtain the compensation they deserve.
At our law firm, we associate with a wide network of medical specialists and other medical malpractice lawyers who strengthen our clients’ cases with their medical knowledge and experience. Our attorneys and medical staff have developed a reputation as skilled negotiators and effective litigators. Our attorneys thoroughly prepare every case and we work hard to achieve maximum results. If a settlement cannot be reached, we will not hesitate to take your case to trial if that is the best way to achieve the desired result in your case. We have not lost sight of the importance of one-on-one contact with our clients, and we always provide a professional and personable environment in which clients can feel comfortable and rest assured that their legal needs are being correctly addressed by an experienced attorney.
If you or someone you love were seriously injured by medical malpractice, wouldn’t you want to be represented by attorneys who have a wealth of experience handling medical malpractice cases?
Our firm has done plaintiff medical malpractice cases for twenty years, concentrating almost exclusively on these cases for over a decade. We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to find the most qualified expert to answer the medical questions unique to your client’s case. We spend hundreds of hours each year reviewing medical literature, identifying medical experts in many specialties and researching those same experts to insure that they are truly qualified and will testify well. We have developed a large database of reliable experts we have used and cross examined and we maintain contact with readily available experts available to review new cases.
Rely on our experience and knowledge to ask the right questions of the right expert at the right time in the life of each case. As a rule, we use only out-of-state experts to review cases or prepare for trial because local physicians are always at risk of being “turned” or “black-balled” by peer pressure. We do not use “friends” or local physicians for confidential reviews. Local physicians generally refuse to testify in court rendering the case without a needed expert late in the life of a case. We have extensive experience litigating and lecturing on the new “Certificate of Merit” rules for Pennsylvania and the expert rules peculiar to West Virginia and Ohio. Let us navigate the maze of those experts that are qualified to testify in certain states and those that are not. Approximately one quarter of the successful cases on our results pages came to us as a referral and resulted in fees for the referring attorneys.
A regular source of our cases is by referral from lawyers in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, including West Virginia and Ohio. Many of our referring lawyers are themselves trial lawyers who may seek the concentrated expertise our firm offers, particularly in the area of birth injury and other complex medical malpractice issues.
