Kayla Godlewski
Kayla Godlewski, MSN, RN, CCRN is a Legal Nurse Consultant with more than ten years of bedside nursing experience and five years in nursing leadership and education. With a strong clinical background centered in pediatric care, Kayla has served as an acuity-adaptable nurse in both acute and critical cardiac care units.
A Pittsburgh-area native, Kayla initially attended Butler County Community College obtaining an ADN, and Robert Morris University for both BSN, and MSN.
Kayla started her nursing career at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh and later transitioned to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where she was a staff nurse, nurse preceptor, and nurse leader. In addition to her clinical practice, Kayla has held several roles in nursing education. She served as an adjunct professor with Duquesne University School of Nursing and as an instructor with UPMC St. Margaret’s School of Nursing. Her leadership experience spans unit-based guidance, staff development, and quality improvement. Kayla also broadened her expertise in clinical research as a Research Nurse with the Medical Research Network, supporting study coordination, protocol adherence, and data accuracy across decentralized clinical trials.
Kayla’s commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement is reflected in her project at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she investigated the impact of discharge education on pediatric readmission rates. This work strengthened her expertise in patient outcomes, communication, and care transition processes.
A former Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) and current Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Kayla maintains active membership in both the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.
